To close out this month, I wanted to give you guys the chance to get to know one of my best friends, Sai. I met Sai while I lived and went to school in the mainland. Over the span of about three years, we became close; we became family.
Sai is one of the most humble, hardworking, and patient people I’ve ever met. She was the one who taught me more about graphic design and who has supported me and all my crazy ideas.
What is your favorite color and why?
Pastel colors. They’re calming and relaxing.
Which superhero would you want to be and why?
Sailor Moon, so I can fight evil by moonlight and win love by daylight ✨
What TV show would you want to live in and why?
New Girl! I want to be a part of their crazy group and witness them do all the silly things they do.
What is your favorite song and why?
Currently my favorite song is “Young” by The Chainsmokers. I think this song says everything about being in love while you’re young. A direct quote from them about this song is:
“things were simpler but often our immaturity still played a role in bad decisions that sometimes led to amazing moments.”
If you could change your name, what would you change it to and why?
I would change it to Katerina, haha. It’s from The Vampire Diaries. I think it’s a really cute and unique name.
If you could travel to anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I would go to Japan. I’m fascinated by the people and culture there. It seems like a really fun place to go to, and I want to try authentic Japanese food!
Who/what inspires you to keep going?
My future. I want the best for my future so I have to keep working hard and not give up.
What is one talent you wish you had but don’t?
Singing. I love music. I think it would be really cool to be in a band.
If you could change anything about your life, what would you change and why?
My shyness. I wish I could be more out there. I want to meet new people, but I’m too shy and timid to approach people.
What piece(s) of advice would you give to your younger self?
Don’t be scared.
Don’t be scared to speak your mind.
Don’t be scared to do something you’ve never done.
Fear is the only thing keeping you from living your life.
What life lesson did you have to learn the hard way?
Don’t believe everything someone says. I kept believing the promises people made, but in the end they don’t keep the promise and it only ends up hurting me.
What are your top three personal values?
Within the next year, what is something you wish to change? How do you plan to change it?
I want to start living a healthy lifestyle and try to keep a positive outlook on my life.
How? I guess that’s something I’ll figure out as I go.
We all need that friend who’s got our back, even though they’re thousands and thousands of miles away. Sai is that friend to me. I hope one day you all will find that one person, or maybe even a group of people, who will always have your back.
