Instead of putting up a post tomorrow (Friday, March 3, 2017) I decided to put one up today.
I looked up what random holidays are during this month, and I found that tomorrow is National I Want You to Be Happy Day. I have no idea when this holiday started or who started it, but I absolutely love the concept of this day!
Think about it… When was the last time you wanted someone else to be happy?
So many times we try so hard to do whatever we can to make ourselves happy that we forget about the happiness of those around us. Yes, your happiness is important, but it’s such an amazing thing to want and make someone else happy.
You don’t have to do something big or spend a lot of money to make someone else happy. Even the smallest things can make others happy, whether it’s smiling at a stranger, holding the door for someone, calling an old friend you haven’t spoke to in a while to ask how they’re doing, washing all the dishes instead of just your own, or something that I love to do and do very often, tell someone in your life how important they are and how much you appreciate them.
I enjoy seeing those around me happy. I could be struggling with my own battles and even be on the verge of giving up, but seeing someone I love and care about happy will always lift my spirits.
Although National I Want You to Be Happy Day is only one day out of the year, I believe you should try to do this as much as you can. Don’t let your acts of kindness be limited to just this one day.
I want to challenge all of you to join me in taking part in tomorrow’s national holiday. Shift your focus off of yourself and onto those around you. Do something that will make someone else, or even multiple people happy.
