My birthday week has ended, so it’s back to reality. But before that, I wanted to share some of the highlights of this past week with all of you!
Monday, September 26 (My actual birthday)
I started the morning of my birthday like I have every other birthday morning since 2009, redeeming my birthday reward at Starbucks. After spending some time at Starbucks, I went out to hunt my favorite Pokemon… Pikachu! Once I caught one (Seriously though, I just wanted to get one since I have a Pikachu army. It breaks my heart to have to transfer them, haha!) I headed back home. Took a few hours to rest and work on new content, then got ready to head out to dinner. A few friends and I went to one of my favorite Korean BBQ places, Sikdorak. All-you-can-eat brisket, pork belly, and beef tongue – Yes, please! Ended my birthday with a full stomach and a full heart.
Tuesday September 27
Jarreth and Frelen were nice enough to bless me with these amazing birthday gifts. I’ve been saying over and over that I want a Razor scooter and was actually planning on getting one as a Christmas gift for myself, but Jarreth beat me to it. Frelen got me the World Suicide Prevention Day 2016 Pack from TWLOHA. I participated in TWLOHA’s WSPD16 campaign (you can see my blog post about it here) and am so blessed to have received their pack as a gift.
Wednesday September 28
Every Wednesday night I volunteer at New Hope Leeward’s Epic High School Ministry. Each week I put together a highlight video, like the one you see above. I enjoy Wednesdays because I get to spend time with these crazy students while we make noise for Jesus. One of my students, Justinne, gave me a belated birthday gift which nearly had me in tears. For one of my students to use her hard earned money to get me a gift humbles my heart. To top it all off, the things she got me are all things I absolutely love; Stitch, Eevee (Pokemon in general), and Pusheen the cat.
Saturday October 1
I had a few gifts from my lovely friend Sai, who is probably the only friend I made in Vegas that I’m still close with. I’ve had these books on my wish list for a while, and I keep meaning to buy them but any time I have the chance to, it slips my mind. I’m so excited to read these books!
As old as I am, I still like having birthday parties. My family and a few of my friends came to my house to help me celebrate.
After this past week, my heart has never been so full. The past few months have been really hard for me, emotionally and mentally; but seeing how there are so many people in my life who love and care about me, reminds me why I am where I am. From the thoughtful gifts that reflect my interests (Seriously, all these Pikachu and Pokemon gifts are giving me life!), to having people help me celebrate another year just warms my heart. I have never felt so blessed.
Thank you to everyone who greeted me and helped me celebrate my birthday! I’m so grateful for each and every one of you.
Here’s to many more birthdays to come!
